integrated, whole-person approach to health and wellbeing. supporting paths toward self-expression, and self-realisation

Initial appointments are typically 120 minutes, follow up sessions are 60 minutes when part of a series. see more information and fee structures below.

Bookings are currently available in person and online. I work with a small number of clients at a time to ensure depth and care.

If you’d like to work together, you can use this form or reach out via email at hi@what--makes.com to ask about session availability, locations, and times.

I specialise working within the intersections of arts, wellbeing (human and environmental), and embodied research, informed by over twenty years of training, practice, and lived experience.

My training spans Yoga, Kalarippayat, Pranayama, Ayurvedic psychology, depth psychology, mindfulness, sound, and creative inquiry. My work is shaped by extended periods living and practising in India over 15 years, time learning with Hesquiaht Elders in Canada and Ngarrindjeri Elders in Australia, and training with Indigenous and traditional teachers across Indonesia, Central and South America.

This work is supported by university training in environmental science and ongoing practice-based research into human–environment relationships, recognising ecological connection as foundational to health and our sense of belonging.

Alongside formal training, my own life has required deep attentiveness to the body, particularly in relation to stress, trauma, and cyclical sensitivity. This informs a practice that values listening, relationality, and care. I’m passionate about passing on the philosophies and practices shared with me by my teachers, and I’m involved in community-based health and arts projects that support holistic wellbeing and ecological connection.

Hi, I’m Alana (what--makes).

i focus on

Ayurvedic psychology

where you explore how your personal experiences, cultural context, and a wider field of consciousness shape your inner and outer life, offering pathways toward balance and integration across all layers.

Jungian-informed depth psychology

inviting you to work with dreams, symbols, and archetypal patterns as sources of meaning, integration, and dialogue with the unconscious.

Subtle and energy systems

experienced not as abstract ideas but as perceptual and relational fields, where you notice how sensation, emotion, intention, and environment continuously interact.

Creative inquiry & ecological relationships

where creative processes generate insight and understanding, alongside exploration of human–environment relationships as central to wellbeing and connection.

Somatic practice and nervous system awareness

where you learn to sense how lived experience is held in your body, and how regulation, safety, and agency can be cultivated through embodied attention.

pranayama, meditation, and mindfulness

offering you practical ways to cultivate attention, emotional regulation, and an intimate awareness of breath, mind, and subtle states.

How We Work Together / Session Structure

Sessions are one-to-one and will include a combination of the practices above. Not all elements are used in every session. The work honours the intelligence of the body and the symbolic language of experience, allowing insight and integration to arise organically.

Some people come for a single session; others work over a series of sessions as part of a longer process. There is no fixed commitment required. We move at a pace that respects your capacity, boundaries, and lived circumstances.

Initial appointments are typically 120 minutes, follow up sessions are 60 minutes when part of a series.
